Ferro Silicon Testing & Analysis

Ferrosilicon is an alloy of Silicon with Iron with average Silicon content between 15 and 90% by weight. Ferrosilicon is produced by reduction of SiO2 in quartzite (as main raw material) with carbon from Coal/coke and Iron as other raw material. Ferrosilicons with silicon content up to about 15% are made in blast furnaces lined with acid fire bricks. Ferrosilicons with higher silicon content are made in electric arc furnaces. Si 70-75% are the standard requirement for use in steel production. Ferrosilicon contains apart from Silicon and Iron, other impurities like Carbon, Sulphur, Phosphorous, Aluminium, Calcium etc. Ferro Silicon is used as de-oxidizer and an alloying element in the manufacture of steel. The material is stored generally in Bags. Export is done both by container and in bulk. Sampling and analysis are carried out as per Indian as well as International Standards.
